Good Afternoon CSFI Stakeholders –

I’m writing today with some news regarding an extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).  The House is expected to vote this week, possibly as soon as tomorrow, on an extension of the NFIP until November 30.  The Senate is expected to consider the legislation shortly thereafter under a fast track process. If this extension bill, authored by Rep. MacArthur and co-sponsored by House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, passes as it is expected to, we will avoid a lapse in authorization ahead of the upcoming August recess.

Importantly, this new date of November 30 gets us to the end of hurricane season. We’ll also continue to work with Congress and stakeholders on reforms to the NFIP as part of a long-term reauthorization bill.
